"Dear Alumni et alii,

Thank you for the invitation to the RCS Reunion 2002.  My six years ('66--'72) at Regina Cleri were very interesting years.  Surely most alumni from the Tucson area and the Phoenix area will show up for the reunion.  Enjoy the gathering and share your stories.  I will not be able to attend due to prior commitments.

After leaving Tucson I spent the next two years as Dean of Discipline in the minor seminary in the San Fernando Valley in California.  In 1974 I was transferred to St. Vincent's College in Cape Girardeau, MO..  That is the Vincentian Minor Seminary for the Midwest Province.  It was closed in 1979.  After that the place was called the Evangelization Center and served as a retreat house until 1988.  At that time it was closed and later sold to Southeast Missouri State University to become their Performing Arts Center.

In 1985 I was appointed to St. Mary's Seminary in Perryville, MO, as the Superior of the house.  All our students had been transferred elsewhere.  It was now a house for our Retired confreres, Headquarters for Catholic Home Study (instruction by mail), Center for our Community Archives, a museum of Chinese Artifacts based on our Missions in China, a Doheny Paperweight Museum and some memorabilia.  All these things have been housed in other parts of the country now.

My term as Superior ended in 1994.  After that I took a year's sabbatical and got re-assigned to St. Mary's in Perryville.  On paper I am retired, but take care of a small parish in Silver Lake, MO. some seven miles west of the Seminary.

There are twenty six Vincentians living here at the old Seminary.  Among that number is Fr. Louis Derbes whom many of you will remember.  He too is retired here after being archivist for many years.  Age wise I am just about in the middle.

If somebody writes up a report of the day's activities or has a list of those who attended I would appreciate receiving a copy.  I am interested even though I am not able to attend.

May the Good Lord bless you all and keep you in His light and Goodness.

Sincerely in the Lord,

Fr. Al
