"This is Father Dan Kerns.  I'm calling from East St. Louis, Illinois.  I was calling in response to the invitation to Concelebrate at the Reunion.  I'm not going to be able to be there.  I regret that.  I would enjoy being there and would like to see everybody again.  However, I'm in the last stages of some chemotherapy and will not be able to attend because of that.  The prognosis looks good and again I would like to be there but circumstances make that impossible.

I'd like to update you a little bit.  What I'm doing now is I'm the principal of an alternative high school in East St. Louis.  We work with kids who have failed in high school and still want to get their high school diploma.  I've been working at this ministry for 11 years now.  I just thought you might be interested in that little bit of an update.  Again, sorry I won't be able to be with you and my best wishes to everybody who comes to the Reunion."
