Fr. Derbes the postage stamp collector, the European traveler to Pompeii, the math teacher with the first $500 portable electronic calculator as big a Bible, that wry sense of humor and that smile that could have an edge that told you were in trouble long before you knew the details that he already knew; that's just a small slice of the Fr. Derbes I recall!  What a fine guy and such a sophisticated New Orleans gentleman, hidden behind the cleric's collar that he wore so well.  His exemplary memory is a good one, his math rules still ring in my head every time I run a structural calculation. God bless him!

Sincerely, Kevin M. Paulus
